Writer - director Martin Romanella grew up in Argentina obtaining his Film degree at Buenos Aires University, furthering film studies at Rockport College and School of Visual Art, receiving an MA in direction from New York University.

He began his professional film career in 1998, when he won a production award from the Argentinean Film Council to shoot 'Candela', which was screened at Clermont Ferrand, London Rotterdam and Los Angeles Film Festival, the rights of which were sold to Canal+, France.

Since then he has been directing music videos, commercials and short films for different production companies in London, including Renting eyeballs, Smoking Pictures, Sirokh Films and Real creative.

With a dark, perceptive yet comic style, he has been developing his subversive view of the world based on personal observations of contemporary culture.

Seven years work as a cinematographer, collaborating on feature films, commercials and promos, honed his strong sense of visual design and framing while furthering his technical skill with the camera.

At the Rotterdam Film Festival 2003, he won the 'Hubert Bals Award' to develop "Bedroom City", his first feature film project which also won a development award from the Argentinean Film Council INCAA in 2002 and was selected for the co- production market at Mannheim International Film festival 2005.

Commissioned by Sirokh Film Ltd. he directed 'As as in' winner of the 'Ken Russell Award at Clerkenwell Film Festival 2004.

His latest short Film "Funeral Etiquette", sponsored by Berlin International Film Festival, produced in Germany by Zero Film, was finalist at TCM competition, London film Festival 2004 winning the "Movie of the Week Award 2004" from the "Talent campus' Berlin International film festival.
